Doug Place

VP, Operations

Doug Place is Alliant’s Vice President of Operations Engineering. Doug drives the strategic, innovative direction of our world-class, 24x7x365 US-based Global Network Operations Center (NOC) and Operations Engineering team.

Prior to joining Alliant, Doug built an impressive career that has steadfastly held innovation at its core. Doug was Principal of a successful consulting practice that focused on providing telecom, IT infrastructure and guidance to global service providers, equipment manufacturers and financial service clients.

Doug previously dedicated 30 years of his career to Verizon, where he kept innovation at the forefront of everything he did. Doug designed and set industry operational standards and architecture for the high-speed networking, which are the core of Verizon’s current global data networks. His most recent role was that of Vice President of Global Network Infrastructure Management where he operated, maintained and upgraded Verizon’s global wire-line network.

Doug also put his innovative spirit to work in a number of other senior leadership positions where he championed several high-growth initiatives, such as business- to- business high-speed data switching and the launch of FiOS and DSL to the consumer market.

When he’s not busy ensuring our NOC is running at peak performance, Doug enjoys spending time with his family in the great outdoors. Whether it’s waterskiing, snow skiing, golfing, or spending time at their rural lake house, he believes it’s important to get away from the busy bustle of the world and enjoy all that nature has to offer.
